There is a dude, who comes into my work every friday and orders the veggie burger. This man, looks like teen wolf. I am not shitting you. I have developed the biggest crush on him and my friend has a man crush on him. Last week he was smoking outside and titled his head back as he exhaled. Like he was fucking HOWLING. I think he knows we talk about him because we giggle like school girls when he comes in.

Since my last post, my life has been ful of very interesting musings, sightseeings and mishaps.

Thats life isnt it?

Id like to think I am a generally interesting person. I am also incredibly postive..but I can also be annoyingly negative.

I work in the service industry for the moment, as this is my last year of doing so. With the economy going down the toilet I am hightailing my ass south in the fall of this year, and will not return for some time.
'

See the West Point? Theres where I did my Dive Master Course. Do you see where Runaway Bay is? Its North, right near Ocho Rios. Where I grew up. Theres where I am getting my Intructors Course.

Ive never completed anything in my life. This will be the first time I have accomplised something GREAT since high school. I am not an overly ambitious person, and thinking about this makes me cry. With such joy.

Anways, wanted to share that with you guys.
Ill be in Detroit at the end of this month with my awesome awesome totally awesome friends:

It will be alot of fun. I am looking forward to seeing you ladies there too! Whose going?

Shooting a set soon, got something in the works.

Currently being distracted by National Geographic online.

What have you been listening to lately? I have so much new music its nuts.

Alright. Now I am rambling.
And if you didnt read my last post, do so. And to those who replied. AWESOME.

much love.

If you live in the United States of America, I think you should read this. If you have kids, you should know about this. If you have any sense in your head about anything, you should be doing something about this. What the fuck is going on down there? I understand the lead part... I dunno. Read more. Get in the know.

READ THIS AND KNOW

The CPSIA stands for Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, a new set of laws that will come into effect on 10 February, 2009 and will impact many, many people in a negative way. Make no mistake, this is very real. View it for yourself. If Forbes, the American Library Association and numerous other media are paying attention, perhaps you should too.

How will these new laws affect you? Well, here are a few examples:

To the Parents of Young Students:
Due to the new law, expect to see the cost of school supplies sky rocket. While those paper clips weren't originally intended for your student to use, they will need to be tested now that your 11-year-old needs them for his school project. This law applies to any and all school supplies (textbooks, pencils, crayons, paper, etc.) being used by children under 12.

To the Avid Reader:
Due to the new law, all children's books will be pulled from library and school shelves, as there is no exemption for them. That’s okay though, there's always television. Our children don’t need to learn the love of reading after all.
Article from the American Library Association http://www.wo.ala.org/districtdispatch/? p=1322

To the Lover of All Things Handmade:
Due to the new law, you will now be given a cotton ball and an instruction manual so you can make it yourself since that blanket you originally had your eye on for $50 will now cost you around $1,000 after it's passed testing. It won't even be the one-of-a-kind blanket you were hoping for. Items are destroyed in the testing process making one-of-a-kind items virtually impossible. So that gorgeous hand-knit hat you bought your child this past winter won’t be available next winter.

To the Environmentalist:
Due to the new law, all items in non-compliance will now be dumped into our already overflowing landfills. Imagine not just products from the small business owners, but the Big Box Stores as well. You can't sell it so you must toss it. Or be potentially sued for selling it. You can't even give them away. If you are caught, it is still a violation.

To the Second-Hand Shopper:
Due to the new law, you will now need to spend $20 for that brand new pair of jeans for your 2-year old, rather than shop at the Goodwill for second hand. Many resale shops are eliminating children's items all together to avoid future lawsuits.

To the Entrepreneur:
Due to this new law, you will be forced to adhere to strict testing of your unique products or discontinue to make and/or sell them. Small businesses will be likely to be unable to afford the cost of testing and be forced to close up shop. Due to the current economic state, you'll have to hope for the best when it comes to finding a new job in Corporate America.

To the Antique Toy Collector:
Due to the new law, you'd better start buying now because it's all going to private collection and will no longer be available to purchase. “Because the new rules apply retroactively, toys and clothes already on the shelf will have to be thrown out if they aren't certified as safe.” http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123189645948879745.html

To the American Economy:
Already struggling under an economy that hasn’t been this weak in decades, the American economy will be hit harder with the inevitable loss of jobs and revenues from suppliers, small businesses and consumers. The required testing is far too costly and restrictive for small businesses or individuals to undertake.

To the Worldwide Economy:
Due to this new law, many foreign manufacturers have already pulled out of the US market. You can imagine the impact of this on their businesses.

ALA Urges Congress To Correct Law That Inadvertently Targets Libraries, Publishers
January 09th, 2009 | Category: Other, School Libraries

CPSC ruling requires children’s books to be removed for safety testing

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Library Association (ALA) released a letter to Congress yesterday, urging members to take action against a recent opinion ruling released from the General Counsel of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) that would require public, school, academic and museum libraries to either remove all their books or ban all children under 12 from visiting the facilities, beginning on February 10.

The opinion was issued to the Association of American Publishers (AAP), following the group’s request to exclude children’s books from regulation under the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), which passed the 110th Congress in August and is enforced by the CPSC.

Under the CPSC’s interpretation of the law, which seeks to protect children from exposure to lead and phthalate, books for children under the age of 12 are required to undergo the same testing procedures as children’s toys. Since the General Counsel’s opinion is retroactive, all books currently on library or store shelves must be removed for testing, including textbooks and children’s literature books in academic library research collections.

The publishing community has supplied the Commission with evidentiary support (available at www.rrd.com/cpsia ) that books and other non-book, paper-based printed materials should not be subject to the lead, phthalate, and applicable ASTM standards that are referenced in CPSIA because they do not present any of the health or safety risks to children that the law intended to address.

ALA President Jim Rettig said he agrees that books do not pose a threat to children and should not be subject to regulation.

“The CPSC should enforce this important legislation where the dangers are – not with books, which are not playthings and should remain unregulated,” Rettig said.

“I sincerely doubt that Congress intended to require libraries to be subject to this law, but if Congress does not act soon, libraries across the country will be forced to remove books from the shelves, rather than keep them available to serve the educational needs of our nation’s children.

Im thinking I want to write right now

Ive spent the day collecting art on the internet. Collecting and harvesting. Its been a strange day up here in Toronto for me.

Family is a strange, strange concept. I never had much of one, or when it was there, chaos and dysfuntion ruled. Yet we managed to spend Christmas together, no matter what was going on. My Dad would be in his Chefs coat, ready to bolt out the door while my brother and I would frantically open every gift with such enthusiasm it would light up the whole room. My mother with the camera telling my Father to sit down and rest of a minute before he 'wouldnt see the kids' for the rest of the holidays. Ah, the glamorous life of an Executive Chef.

I spent my last week being sick. Awfully sick.
Im better now. There was alot of blood in my phlegm. I was worried for a bit, but it went away as fast as it came.

The year is ending.... so much has happened this year.... I could write a book I swear...

If you live in Ontario, and havent heard of Basia Bulat then you have been living under a rock. Shes quite amazing, and all things good.

I wish I could upload songs to my iPod, but I dont have a program to download these things. Wait- much less... a computer.....

The nights I walk home from work, in the cold..... I find myself so extremely happy I cry. I love this damn iceberg so much... its weird I had to find that love 3000 miles away from it, in a home that wasnt mine.

I received the best christmas card from my dearest friend and his boy.... if you could see it.. you would cry.
oh what the hell.
you can see it too..

Merry Christmas indeed. Its on my fridge right now and my roommate and I laugh each time were in the kitchen.

SO much to look to next year, so many plans. Toronto is extremely beautiful in the summer. I might stay because I can.

By the fire in the Distillery District:

That was a fun night.

Im thinking Im going to fill up my left leg with Owl tattoos. Lots of them

This is alot of writing... isnt it? I cant help it for the moment.

January is going to be so incredibly slow. at. work. Someone tell me what I should do in my spare time. I think Im going to try to bake different cupcakes every day. I found this blog with all these recipes and one of them has mini doughnuts on them. Delicious.
And try taking more photos. I want a polaroid camera for Christmas (hint)

If your around on Wednesday, Im going for beers. Come join me!

That is all.
happy Holidays everyone.

I havent been around much on here lately..
I dont have my own computer so its hard to get to one at times. but its intensely freeing.... or at least I think so.
Things are going amazing here, so happy. so in love with everyone, every little thing in my life.
I am working alot, so its hard to divide my time between things.
Come January things will be quieting down, studying more.

My camera has dead batteries so I havent had a chance to take any new photos.
Been hanging out with Kensington alot lately. Took her to a hot yoga class last night, awesome!
Hopefully sooner rather than later I can go see my other familia Luscious & Dane. They went on a swanky cruise and whatnot. Plus another one of her awesome sets went up, go check it out!'

Congrats to my lady Nicolelee. Makes me super happy to see her happy.
Im thinking about shooting again, but I am hesistant. My bestie Simon baker and I came up with some fuckng great ideas..... we shall see. We like to keep them to ourselves though at times wink

Next year is going to be fucking awesome. Lots of things to do, places to go, people to see. Hopefully I will be having a travel companion...right Mr. Richey?

I would love nothing more to go to Ohio to see the ladies down there, tis hard though when I am saving up for said things next year.

Otherwise, have an amazing December everyone.....

Namasté

P.S. Been cooking up some awesome veggie meals! I love the Big Carrot! (If you live in Toronto and havent been....go!)
