Only once. With an instructor on my back. Not to be "cool," but I really did find it less exhilerating than I had hoped. It was very contemplative, almost meditative. . .but I felt no rush. . . not enough motion. . .that is, aside from the air rushing past (or does one rush past the air?), the sensation of falling was hard to discern. . .

Now Coney Island's rollercoaster - THAT IS ONE HELL OF A THRILL.

I jumped a couple of times using static lines from an Islander.

The week before my first jump, a girl died on her first jump, she landed on the running rotors of a helicopter. One of my instructors was present.

A string of bad weather turned ended my interest, but I would love to try free fall.

I really want to do it, but everywhere I go my command says I can't (fuckers)
My friend did it, and he said that he had heard it was just like flying...........
FLYING STRAIGHT DOWN! AKA falling was how he described it.
Party pooper, I am still going to go do it. ARRR!!!

It's kick ass! I just got back from the drop zone tonight, I got in two jumps. I jump for relaxation believe it or not, it's very stress relieving. I'm not like one of those Mountain Dew commercials they have. I learned by going static line many years ago and I just clicked over 800 jumps tonight!

If it's something you've ever thought about doing, I highly recommend it. You don't have to necessarily go through an hours long first jump training course anymore, you can jump tandem, from full altitude with an experienced tandemaster after about 10-15 minutes of instruction and gear up.

It's thrilling but not in a roller coaster thrill ride sort of way. There's no up and down sensation, no stomach flipping at all, no real sense of falling, just a lot of wind and absolutely nothing holding you back. It's complete freedom.

I think swimming is swimming. No boats necessary. . .unless you prefer to spit oil into waterways. smile

It's probably more exciting if you jump at night. Naked. On acid.

Did it once just to prove I could. Big fear of heights. Not too on fire to do it again, but if I do, I'll definitely be bringing a damn mask. That wind in freefall gets pretty damn fierce.

120 mph freefall and fast shutter speed isn't exactly kind to the naked human body...

I would love to go (hint hint anyone reading this in the greater NY area), but everyone I come across who says they want to do is all talk and action -- they wimp out when they realize I'm serious and start to make plans for it.

Been there, done that (freefall). Kicked my camera man in the balls as we let go of the strut and then his chute didn't open all the way, so my video was more the frantic untangling and a lot of “Owww Owww ughhh uhhhhh SHIT!!!..............”
I had a scary little mid air tumble because I couldn’t see the altimeter past my tits and had to un arch myself to try and see. I then got caught in a sudden gust of wind and was blown quite a ways off course for landing, had to drop and roll, rather than stalling and landing on my feet. I ended up dragged through a field of thorns and was picking them out of my hands for probably a month after. While I’m glad I did it, I decided I was only going to get one chance to decide not to do it again. It was really terrifying, a lot went wrong, I was the last jump of the day because of the wind.
I decided I like staying in the plane much better. I had a friend who owned an old WWII PBY and that was really fun to fly in.
