I used to like Subway back in Ireland. The chicken at least made a passable attempt at looking appetizing. But the first time I ordered a chicken sub in California, and the lady dumped this slab of white mystery meat on my bread, I decided to switch to shitty Mexican fast food instead. Yuck.

that looks bloody discusting, i beat you could squeeze out a gallon of grease from the bread alone!
ive only ever had 'veggie delight's at subway, and to be honest ive never had any reason to dislike them, except for when the staff hardly put any salad in there...the bastards.

Yeah, the veggie sandwiches are usually edible there. Not great, but not bad.

The best sandwich I can recall was a spinach melt from Bear's Place in Bloomington, Indiana.

I'm torn on this, because the most delicious sandwich I have ever had was when a particular woman worked at the Subway up the road from my house. I always had a Veggie Delight, and she always made it just perfect. Even the bread was made perfect whenever she was working. Always put on ample salad, and it was fresh and crisp, and she layered the cheese in the correct way. Perfection in a sammich. Then she disappeared and it all went downhill.

However, the worst sandwich I have ever eaten was also from Subway. A chicken one. It was awful, I think the chicken could still cluck. puke

Subway is horrible. Quiznos is the king of franchised sub shops.

Unfortunately, great places to eat in Minneapolis will only help me if I make a special trip to eat there (and I may!) - for day to day living, I'm all about St. Paul and Roseville. And Subway's primary appeal is as a work lunch or quick bite to eat on the way somewhere else.

So you know about Nelson's right?

The first time I had a sandwich there it was the steak and mushroom melt. It made me sick within an hour. But It was tasty and the mall toilet had those paper ass gaskets, so I figured it was pardonable.

This concludes todays episode of TMI theatre.

I used to work a few blocks from Nelson's. At the time I failed to appreciate how lucky I was. Great breakfast too.

In the interest of not freaking out, what sort of non-hamburger sandwich do you put ketchup on?

Fuck Quizno's. It's just overpriced Subway. Unripe tomatoes, shitty shredded iceberg, shitty meat. Give me a deli using Boar's Head over any of the usual chains any day.

There is a massive quality difference between Quizno's and Subway, having eaten at both more than I ought. They're a chain, and yeah, a good local place will probably beat them, but they're the best sub chain I know.

I would really like to see a comparison of fast food places in America, to restaurants of the same franchise here in Europe.

Subways here in The Netherlands are fantastic! You will never see a sandwich like that piece of shit in the article being served here. Admittedly, Subways here is also not cheap, but I say it's worth the money. I wonder how the BK's and McD's compare.
