it's actually pretty tame, given all the hullabaloo that's going on about it. saying things like "you're a nice guy, but that don't fucking cut it when you're bullshitting and fucking around like this on set" and "you do it one more fuckin' time, and i ain't walking on set if you're still hired" (as opposed to demanding that the guy be fired on the spot) doesn't strike me as completely unreasonable. angry, yes, but not a tantrum. he sounds like he's pissed with good reason.

Yeah I agree. It can be incredibly hard to get a moment back like that in a scene and considering it happened twice I think is fair enough. But people love to see celebrities fall from grace don't they. As for me I think good fucking on him!!!!!
Fuck that shit, he's pissed because someone walked through his field of vision while filming a scene. he didn't walk through a scene, he became a distraction for Bale.
If you can pretend like yr fighting machine monsters in front of a green screen, you can handle a DP checking the lighting rig. That's called acting.
And I don't want to hear that "Method" shit. Christian Bale is not Marlon Brando. He's not good enough to get away with that moody Method actor shit. Using Strasberg and Stanislavski to justify being a dick to someone is an insult to acting.

Bullshit. Getting in the moment at an instant's notice is a film actor's job.
And this is Termiantor 4, not The Cherry Orchard.
Not to mention that if a crew member pulled shit like that, even on an actor that didn't hit their mark or blocked themselves out of shot, they'd be out of there.
I scream at people at work like that all the time. Doesn't mean I don't love 'em,
just because they're fucked up retards, bringing shame and ruin on everything they touch.
They're still good people.

No, getting into the moment in an instant is not an actors job that's improv. And the fact is the guy did it twice. Is Bale being extra tempremental? Is he being over excessive, is he an asshole, well that's up for you to decide but I think good on him. As for crew members pulling shit like that...It's a reality that movies can be made on star power, make of that what you will but how many people are going to go and see T4 because of the DP?? I worked on a movie where a crew member was fired for leaving her phone on and it went off during a take. Anyway, that's my opinion.

Cheers
That's really not only improv. No, not at all.
You think acting like a petulant child is acceptable? Because he had "to tell him twice?" Oh, don't make the mighty Christian Bale tell you again! He was in the remake of Shaft, goddammit! There are very few instances when it is acceptable for an adult to speak like that to anyone, and being distracted on the set of an action flick is not one of them. A deep, painful scene in T4? Please. Actors very much should be able to ignore distractions. Not being able to means he's not very good at his job.
Not to mention that this kind of distraction is a given in film acting. You learn yr lines, hit yr mark, and all of the sudden you have to be in the middle of World War III or telling yr dying lover yr leaving him or grilling Richard Nixon. And then you have to do the same scene all over again for the other camera angle. It's not the theatre where talking or movement or a cell phone ring ([url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dw6-Tp4UVVAorflash photography) is something people try to avoid. It's an action film. You have to pretend a cardboard cutout is a mechanical man or a tyranosaurus or Yoda.
If you can't deal someone walking around outiside of shot, yr a needy prima donna.
Maybe if the guy was doing the Funky Chicken or masturbating, I might have some sympathy.
It's guys like this that give actors a reputation as spoiled brats and pompous "artistes". Unfortunately, when a bank CEO or a doctor throws a fit, no one records it and even if they did, no one would care. But spoiled celebrities probably have a disproportionately high diva quotient, so all actors get a bad rap.
