When i, likely drunk, decided to interview Jhonen Vasquez for SuicideGirls, i knew i was embarking on a dangerous mission, and would almost immediately regret the decision. In spite of this, i rose, wobbling, from my workstation, staggered into the newswire office and declared it would be done.

Asking you readers to contribute some questions would surely spell trouble, too. Allow me now to thank those of you who pried yourselves away from the naked girls for two minutes and actually took your...

i have been a... 'rabid' may not be the right word but it comes to mind, 'fan' of jhonen for let us say for the sake of argument 10 years now. i bought Z? in softcover and read it to tatters. pages fell out. i bought the hardcover (you know; the black book with the big Z? in a silver box in the middle?) and that has held up fairly well.
i also have spent much of my life enjoying the horrifying disasters that befall poor doomed squee, and i have a secret shmee myself.
although i dont think MY shmee eats my nightmares. MY shmee is just a tiny little green stuffed toy from... oh, wheres that place in NM or whereever where the GOVERNMENT supposedly has a hanger somewhere with aliens on ice? anyway, thats where i got my shmee.
im not the one who HAD TO KNOW about the myspace page, but i MUST voice my opinion that a simple 'yes' or 'no' would have answered the question and yet not given too much else away. then again, this is jhonen we are discussing. and for some reason, i cant see him answering a question put to him with a 'yes' or a 'no'.
PERSONALLY, i was interested because i would like to propose marriage, BUT, alas, evidently it is not meant to be.
yet.
although, i am an EXCELLENT stalker.
thats clearly a lie. excellent stalkers dont bandy words about being professional stalkers. still, it would be fairly fucking mind-expanding to at the very least buy mr. vasquez a cup of hot chocolate (or a squishee) and make out with him for a few hours.
brilliant, brilliant man. brilliant artist. brilliant sense of depravity...
excellent choice for an interview, to narrow this all down to a point. i do tend to ramble.
jhonen; the marriage proposal notwithstanding, i wouldnt be averse to polishing your boots. if you ever need the services of a boot polisher.

Zo, great interview, but......

You didn't ask the biggest question, i.e. is he ever going to fucking draw something again? He's a funny guy, and it's great reading the stuff he writes, but both he and Dirge have fallen into the lazy-bastard trap of not "having" to draw something, so they don't.
Hell, he wouldn't have any of these fans if it weren't for Johnny (and Zim obviously, but that wouldn't have happened without 'Ny either), and after teasing us with I Feel Sick...nothing...
When the likes of Adrian Tomine, Joe Matt, Dan Clowes and Chris Ware are pitting out more books than you, you really want to worry...

I dunno, kids these days, no work ethic, grumble, grumble...

I did touch on him branching out a bit. And how is "i feel sick" a tease, exactly?

It gives me a happy little tickle to think how horrified he is as to his fandom

Well, his art on JTHM, Squee & Filler Bunny was great, but I Feel Sick was gorgeous and colourful and ...the last sequential art he'd draw in a comic for the next 8 years or so (okay, apart from 2 Filler Bunnies)...

It's just, y'know, since Zim ended he's only managed to put out 2 comics that he wrote, neither of which seem to have taken him an enormous amount of time to write. In six years! He's the Andrew Eldritch of comics (only shorter and skinnier and with better hair). I'm not saying he owes us anything, but, um, no, actually that's exactly what I'm saying. Comics is his strength, why shouldn't we want to see him at his best?

Hey, you know what, I was only curious if he had a myspace. No big deal. I'm a big fan of Jhonen, when I saw his numerous profiles I wondered for a moment, and then when I had a chance to actually ask one of my fucking idols a simple question, I took the opportunity. Also, that wasn't the only question I asked him, my other questions appeared in the interview too.

There's no need to be assholes about it, but you know what, I bet that's really easy when it's that fucking anonymous, right? I'm not losing sleep over it, and I haven't even thought about it since I wrote that, I was just curious. Only midly curious at that. Jesus.
